You have to go 3rd party, and have a unit installed. Expect around $400-700. Others will chime on their recommendations, but just google car play and your car and find an audio shop near you that will install it.
It is not hard to do, just watch the videos. It appears daunting but it really is not difficult. I put a beatsonic in my GX but put a GROM in the LS. Changes the driving experience like there is nobody’s business.
definitely easy task if you’re mechanically inclined.. i put the beatsonic in my LS last year & just literally completed the firmware update to have everything going through the car’s bluetooth and future over the air updates yesterday. took about an 3.5hrs when i first installed & 1 hr to complete updates
any open topics on how to install the GROM VLINE2 on the LS460? I just bought my car and use Carplay on my other vehicle, ended up being almost dependent on it so installing it will be my priority now.
I am specifically looking for best ways to install it preserving the trims and panels without breaking anything during disassembling and reassembling.
The videos you find online most of them the trim piece above the air vents are cracked and this is scaring me for doing it myself
I did it on my 08. Took maybe an hour, didn't break anything. Only tough part was placement in the glovebox, couldn't find any other place.
Which model did you get, the vlite or vLine?
how is it? responsiveness? etc? also does the unit warm up? I am also thinking about putting in the glove box but I'm a little unsure to do so because of the temperatura and those materials used in the glove box seem to catch fire easily
My idea is to get the simplest model just for the apple car play wireless, I basically just use maps and spotfy when driving

I had a GROM installed in my '13 LS, and now i've moved it over to my GSF.
Youtube is your best friend. You can find step by step installation videos made by Grom
If you've taken your dash apart before, it'll be 1.5 hr start to finish. If this is your 1st rodeo, add another hour or 2, or just get it installed at a shop.
For my GSF, it only took at most an hour start to finish cuz there's only a few panels to pull.
I would follow GROM install video and place the unit in the glove box. Theres a small plastic piece that pops out in glove box to allow the wires to be fed from behind the head unit. FYI, it is a little buggy and will either reset while driving, or the wireless connection will take forever to connect. I use a wired connection, and it connects instantly. Periodically look for software and firmware updates to stay current. Customer service is also very helpful and responsive if you have any issues.

I have the VL2. It does not get even remotely hot. I put it on an aluminum heat sink and that's superfluous.
I agree with JohnnyC407 as it relates to minimal heat being generated by the VL2. I have my VL2 installed below the glove box on top of panel 5 in this diagram and I have had no heat issues. This location keeps the glove box space free.
