Intermittent P0335 crankshaft position sensor circuit A issue
I have a Recurring p0335 code thst would randomly come on either at a stop idling or even during light acceleration and coasting while on the freeway. Basically at any point, I can get the p0335 code with the engine completely shutting down. The car does restart right back up immediately with no hesitation or prolonged cranking. Most of the time the car drives just fine. Sometimes when it does shut off during idle, I notice there is some rough idling right before it turns off. But during motion, it would shut off completely out of no where. No rough idling or strange power loss, just an immediate shut off of the engine.
So far, I have replaced the crankshaft position sensor twice with genuine oem part. I have also replaced the main engine ecu. The harness and connectors all look good too. I replaced the negative ground cable from the battery to the car frame with brand new oem part and made sure all ground connections are secure. I also replaced both maf sensors with genuine oem maf sensors too
At this point I’m not sure what else could cause this random, intermittent issue.
Attached is the screenshot of the freeze frame data for the most recent code.
Your battery according to the read out is at 50% charge, I would look into that.
Are you referring the control module voltage of 12.2V?
when the car is running, the voltage according to my bluetooth obd module is 13,8-14,1V, with no big fluctuations. That should indicate the alternator is good?
Yes the alternator is charging but if that's at idle with a good battery it seems a bit high, specs for alternators are usually at 2500 rpms. That doesn't necessarily mean the battery is bad though...you'd have to load test it to know for sure.
Did you remove the connector from the sensor and check for 5v and ground on the harness side and have a look at the condition of the pins on the sensor for corrosion or greenitis?

i checked the connector on the side where it connects to the sensor and the ecu side. From sensor side there is 5v and no corrosion or greenitis. It looks very clean and not dirty. The ecu side is clean as well, as it’s covered by the sealed ecu box
I recently replaced the rear fuel pump, the one that sits in the gas tank in order to eliminate the fuel pump as a potential culprit.
today when I was driving on the freeway, holding 65 mph, the engine would randomly just shut off.
The car does start right back up immediately and still throws the p0335 crankshaft position sensor A code. Crankshaft position sensor has already been replaced twice with oem factory sensors and it still has this intermittent and random engine shut offs
the fuel dampers has been replaced as well.
I haven’t replaced the high pressure fuel pumps (the pumps sitting on the engine block)yet and don’t know if that would cause the random shut offs. It’s so hard to figure out what the actual problem is causing my random engine shut off events.
No offense, but why did you replace the fuel pump if your issue is coming from the crankshaft sensor? Did you follow the troubleshooting procedure below?

All of the diagnostic steps were performed by the dealer. The problem is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time. It's completely random when it does. I could be sitting at a red light idling, accelerating on the freeway, cruising on the freeway, coming to a stop at a red light.... it is truly random when it does stall out. Other shops have suggested a fuel delivery issue and said an old fuel pump could be sticking and cause the intermittent issue. My ls460 has 220k and never had the fuel pump replaced, so I figured I'll try eliminating that variable, as it is an easy part to get to and a generic replacement pump is really cheap. but after running the car with the new fuel pump, it's still having the random stalling issue happening, there is no pattern or specific condition when it will stall, but it always throws the p0335 code every time.
