Default What's not wrong with your LS

Since buying my 2016 LS460 a year ago and joining the Lexus 4th Gen LS forum all I see are posts about all the problems folks have with their LS. Granted mine is not high mileage, about 40,000 so far and only driven in the summer I have had no issues. I'd like to hear from others especially with high mileage that have had no significant issues other than standard maintenance. I apologize if a similar thread has been posted previously.

I've had my '13 w/air for 4 years and put just 8k on it for a current 64k. When I bought it, the rear discs were warped. After that, no issues at all.

I have owned my 2010 LS460L for 10 years now taking it from 19K on the clock when it came off lease to 111,265 on the clock now. Other than changing the spark plugs, brake pads and rotors out at the 60K mark I have not spent a dime other than the normal oil and filter changes. The tires get rotated every 5k with the oil change. About 3 or 4 years ago I did get basically a whole new front interior from Lexus and given that nobody ever sits in the back seat the interior looks like new. Best Car I have ever owned.

Here's one thing you have to realize. Many owners buy their LS and never come here, and that's fine, they're just not into car talk. So there are many thousands of owners who have no problem with their car and since they are not car guys, don't come here. But then with a handful of owners, something goes wrong, and guess where they come either to seek help or just complain?

As for me, I have almost 172,000 miles. I had the control arms done under warranty and I had to replace the starter motor on my dime (starter was cheap, it was the 6 hours labor).

Oh, and I had to strip the drip rails because they were peeling. Lexus actually replaced one when the car was out of warranty as a courtesy, but when the other one went they declined.

I've had my 2011 for six years, and the only thing to fail so far was the thermostat. That (including coolant) cost me $54 to replace, and it only took me 45 minutes.

The total for everything to date is $888.17, but I do only have 70k miles on it. I'll be buying tires and changing all the fluids in April, so that'll add a bit to the total.

My 2008 ls460 is a POS!. The last 3 years have been a total disaster for the car. It was 3yrs old when I bought the car with about 30k miles. In the past three years the engine was replaced and at that time there were only 104k on it. The dealer and independent shop suggested replacing the engine because it was cheaper than fixing it. The next year the transmission began to slip and that had to be fixed. Even before the engine was replaced the starter had to be changed. The a/c compressor was been changed and now the ABS actuator has warning on the insturment panel to check the VCS. It now cost 3800 to get that replaced.

I have always taking the car to have the maintenance done on it at its scheduled times. The only thing good about the car is it looks good. Also the dash and interior panels were replaced a couple years ago under the recall. Dealer billed Lexus over 8500 to replace. The car only has about 135k on it. What an expensive POS. Also by the way the oring seals on the oil filter housing are leaking and they need to be changed, I can do that myself thank goodness. I will never buy another one!

I also know of two people who own one are both have the ABS VSC warning on their dash

55k miles? Why isnt lexus covering the valley plate? Lexus should pay for their defect plus the low mileage

Car is no longer in warranty - expired Dec 22. Soon after, all these issues came out. Car is 10 years old, how would they cover it?

In my third year owning my 13 f sport awd and the only problem I’ve had was the clock stopped working.
I’ve changed all the driveline fluids, a few oil changes and a coolant change.

Still fairly low mileage at 55k kilometres.

yes it is in fact miles. Did not expect the engine mounts, valley plate to give out so soon.

07, bought at 125k and I repaired everything needed.....has given us zero issues since but considering I did all front arms, shocks, engine/trans mounts, valley plate, valve covers+HPFP seals+plugs, trans service and pan reseal, diff service, brake system 4x bleed, brakes all the way around, radiator+T-stat, wind noise fix, sunroof drain snake, door seal reconditioning, and all lights I would expect it to not act up at all.

Not a single thing has given me issue that it didn't have when I bought it so it's doing very well by my standard.

I had an 07 460L with ultralux. I bought it 6 years ago; it was consuming oil but now at 230K it requires 1 quart every 1000 miles. I had the front control arm changed twice (first time with non-oem parts). Starter replaced. Front two air suspension replaced. I needed a new ABS actuator when I gave it to my sister after nephew total his vehicle. The car luckily never went to the stealership.

Now my second journey begins. 2017 460 bought at auction after hail damage with 78K. Interior is clean. Only error on dash was key Fob battery replacement. Just replaced front and rear brake pads yesterday. Car drive much better than my 07 460 and interior is more updated.
