Default Hazards lights came on automatically

Pulled up to a stop light today and once stopped the hazards blinked very quickly about 4 times.

Anyone have any idea what that might mean? I did stop quite quickly and thought maybe it's an automatic alert to drivers behind. Tried an emergency stop a few minutes later but it did not return.

I can't find any info online that relates. 2016 model.

 Cheers

Was there a car behind you? Do you have active headrests?

I think this is related to the Collision Avoidance System.

There was a car behind yes. I'm not sure if I do or not tbh.

I think it’s related to something in front like pedestrians in crosswalks or even objects that are on the curb but too close to the road.

FSM says that in certain conditions, when rear radar detects extreme closure rate from behind it flashes the hazards. I think it even mentions the flash frequency. Let me log in and check.

  • REAR-END CRASH PREVENTION ALARM CONTROL (Except Europe)
    1. When the system determines that there is a risk of a rear-end crash, the hazard warning lights blinks 180 times per minute to warn drivers to the rear of the vehicle.
Looks like OP got one of the rarest option sets with driver monitor, rear radar, active headrests, lka etc.

I could see how those flashing lights might trigger a road rage incident

I tried to activate the radar today and set it off again by braking late, however the radar switches off after a few seconds if cruise control is not activated. So yeah it looks like it is what you've mentioned.

Thanks a bunch for looking that up. Amazing.
Oh and don't forget the massage seats ☺️
