Default Changelog Between Model LS 460 Years 2013+

Hi, I'm new to the forum and it's been incredibly helpful as I shop for a 2013 - 2015ish LS 460. It's very unclear to me what differences there are in the 2013, 2014, and 2015 model years. I searched a bit on this forum but I couldn't find any info about the differences between these years. If anyone has any knowledge about any yearly changes, please let me know!

Specifically I'm interested in an F-type LS 460 with < 80k miles in California and my budget is < 30k. I'm not sure if it's worth looking for a 2013, 2014, or 2015 year specifically because I'm not sure what's changed over the years. 2013 is the lowest I'm looking at because I hate the way the < 2012 year cars look.

Thanks in advance!

I casually check asking prices in So Cal. for non Fsport. You can find 2013, maybe 2014 at your limits. I suggest looking at car reviews as they often state the changes from year to year.

Changes were minimal between 2013 and 2016. The Nav system was different for each year (?!) and there were some other, very minor, cosmetic changes.

I heard that sometimes certain options become standard in newer years, but it doesn't seem like that that's the case.

I think you're a bit pessimistic. Recently a 2013 100k mile car sold for $23k and a 2014 50k mile car sold for $30k, both F sport with good packages. So 2013 or 2014 should be easily attainable, 2015 is a stretch.

Didn't think to review the reviews for a changelog. That's a good idea! But unfortunately the reviews have zero useful information lol.

Yeah all the reviews have just said "minor interior changes". Why can't they just spell it out 🙄

I dug around a lot and it seems the interior layout is exactly the same, but the UI in the infotainment system is a little different. Makes sense because if they changed the layout they'd need to pay huge amounts of money to make new molds.

I don't plan on using the infotainment system at all. My current 2020 Corolla has Apple Carplay (but no Android Auto) and I have an Android so I have zero use for the display. I just connect Bluetooth and play music from my phone.

I think you're nitpicking my effort to help you. Your limit is $30k that is exactly what you said a 2014 sold for, as did I. I'd like to know how you know the selling price vs asking price. I'd be very helpful.

I appreciate your comment, but I think your pricing estimate is a little off.

Very informative in real time. Hard to dispute.

I've spent a lot of time test driving various cars. I still don't have a complete answer, but I can say that the 2014 nav system's rear camera has fixed lines (that only show the width of the car), but in 2015+ those lines curve depending on the rotation of the steering wheel. minor difference, but it's definitely disorienting and unsatisfying. The other change I've noticed is that 2015+ added two "enter" buttons on the side of the remote touch interface. i think it's completely useless since you can just push down on the joystick to accomplish the same task. also the UI icons look a little different / more modern with later years.

hope this helps anyone who's in the same boat!

The enter buttons are indeed useless. They are very squeaky sounding in my car. Reminds me of what life might have been like in a BMW

The UI looked ancient at the time, let alone today. I have a 2016 FWIW. Looks like from the early 2000s. You can turn it off of course.

It has been mentioned that DI engine noise may have been reduced in later models. I think I agree with that based on the few that I’ve driven.

Btw, I actually like the idea of the F-Sport for this car. Throw on some pilot sports and it will be a pretty fun vehicle with a NA V8 and a nice air suspension. I was surprised at how well it handled and steered for what it was. Definitely no BMW, but unlike the bimmer it’s a smart buy. A car that won’t cost you thousands every year to maintain.

If you want more detailed, Lexus GSIC have "new car features" when you select a model - year. I dont have GSIC for 2013+ but here is what looks in 07-12

I don't think the UI is that bad! I just got a 2014 last week and it's ok. I only really look at the fuel economy and the map, but I don't use it to navigate.

WTF I wish I knew about GSIC earlier! Where were you a month ago 😭
Doesn't matter much now, esp since I already have the car and I can't seem to find anything for 2013 - 2017. I'm not a car guy at all. Is the GSIC supposed to be publically available? Based on my lack of evidence I assume not?
