new here but have been reading a lot of the helpful threads. I’m in the process of purchasing a silver / grey interior lS 430 with 60k miles.
there’s a good amount of service history at a local Lexus dealer. I’m buying from out of state sight unseen. Dealer has great reviews and has been updating me regularly.
any concerns you would have? I’ve asked about timing belt and tires.
selling my 13 V6 Camry SE for this one since I’ve always wanted an lS
I would go to the Lexus owners website and run the VIN to see if the transmission TSB issues have been addressed. I have an 04 as well. 60k is really low mileage which means it probably wasn’t driven much. While that’s good it’s also bad because when a car isn’t driven much, the seals get dry. Just my 2 cents. Other than that LS is an amazing car.
Speakers may not sound good due to dry rotted woofer surrounds but that's an inexpensive $50 DIY fix if you're inclined. Check rear brake lights to see if LED section works. Check front display for all backights on center stack buttons.
how far and how much? I bought out of state last Feb. and it took 40 days to get car delivered. cost of delivery went up from $950 to $1300 to finally get a driver.
philadelphia area to texas panhandle. beware
I've used Patrick at Soldier Transport twice: two years ago from Beaverton, OR and in December from the Bay area of CA; both to North Central Texas. Good reviews and BBB+, open trailer both times.
As a comparison, I bought a 2004 UL with 80K for $12,900 from a dealer in Vegas 3 months ago. I used Mercury Auto Transport, a Florida Broker, to find a long haul car carrier. He found a trucker coming from LA on his way to Mass and negotiated a $1000 deal. Broker fee was $150 so it was $1150 in all. It took 14 days to get the car. The best part was the trucker transferred the car at the Boston terminal from a large car carrier to a 3 car trailer for delivery into my home. The other transport prices I was quoted were $1400 to $1,950.
I have used Roy at Transport Times In the Atlanta area for years. He's super honest and finds great carriers. I just shipped my new to me Audi Q7 from Irvine CA to Kansas City MO area, called him on a Monday picked up Tuesday delivered Thursday. In a 2 car enclosed trailer. $1450 plus the $150 fee.
