Default Blown ML sub

My sub is blown on my 04 with the Mark Levinson system. I can’t seem to find a compatible AM sub ANYWHERE!!! Anybody have any suggestions on where I can find a sub that’ll be compatible to the Mark Levinson system?

I got a brand new one from Bell Lexus ($$$) but after I purchased it I discovered that my sub was not blown but just needed to be re-foamed. So I bought a re-foam kit and did it myself. Its perfect. I still have the new oem sub sitting in the box. Preparing to send it back.

The Lexus dealer near me is asking close to $600 for a new one. Are they cheaper than that?

not much in May I bought one from BELL and it was $467.48 delivered so you can ask them to price match, might save a little.
mine was listed as the last one, but soon after they had 4 more in stock

I wanted to go the after market route, but it seems as if I can’t find anything that would be compatible for the Amp. What’s the link to Bell?

The aftermarket sub you need is this Dayton Audio SD215A-88-8-DVC .
https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton...woofer-295-484

Fitted one to my LS430 nearly 2 years ago, and once broken in it sounds OEM.
You will need to make some minor mods to the plastic subframe that holds the sub, but easy enough to do with a Dremel.
I also added new foam to the subframe so that the new Sub is held firmly.

I've got a similar sound issue in mine. Just confirming...to work on the rear speakers the backseat must come out, right?

I've got bigger fish to fry before I fix this issue.

Thanks!

I did not take my rear seat out. I cut the deck foam from the top around the speaker and went in from the top. Just make sure the area you cut will be covered by the speaker grill when you put it back in. You can't even tell I cut anything and saved a boatload of time and headache getting seat out. I will look for the youtube or site link where I saw it and post it later on.

I did the same. If you cut the carpet you can take the Sub out without unbolting the rear seat.
I used a Stanley knife with a new blade.

I own my LS for almost 12 years. It came with a blown sub woofer, and after the glue fix, and then the refoaming, I finally folded and purchased a OEM sub from a Lexus dealer. We are talking about 10 years ago. The cost at that time was $299, which I though was a lot. The car is usually garaged, and when it sits in the blazing sun, I put a sunshield over the back window to protect the speaker as well as keep the car cooler. I've always used a Front sunshield to preserve the dash, seats, steering wheel, and keep the temp down. Well worth it. The OEM sub is working well. Keep the sun off of it and also DON"T BLAST THE MUSIC. It is a delicate cheaply made speaker, but the ML system works best with it. .

I was just thinking about keeping the new one for now. See how my refoam holds up. I agree tho, It's a cheap looking and feeling sub.

Follow the thread from post #10. You'll be surprised how easy it is and wish you would've done it sooner. Even if you go aftermarket later, refoaming with buy you some time to find what you need with aftermarket equipment.
