Default disconnect battery

Would it do any harm to disconnect the battery for a while,...let's say 8 weeks. I have a ,400 Ma draw and I'd like to take it (03 LS430 base) out to a farm for storage. I don't know that much about diodes and resistors and other stuff that might be affected. Thanks in advance.

I doubt it very much you will have any issues. Make sure the battery is fully charged when you connect it up again later on. You might take a peek at the owners manual to see if there is anything in there about long term storage. Some manuals have suggestions on that.

Biggest problem with disconnecting the battery when charged is that it will make the battery last a lot longer. I always do it when I go south for the winter.
When I go north, I do the same thing with the desert car, also an LS 430, but that battery hates 120 degree temperatures, so three years is about it.

I have a 2011 IS F with the original battery. still works fine. The LS 430 battery does not last that long, but is already four years old. When I return I usually put the battery charger on it, that way the alternator doesn't need to work so hard.

https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/...tore_batteries

"You can store a sealed lead acid battery for up to 2 years. Since all batteries gradually self-discharge over time, it is important to check the voltage and/or specific gravity, and then apply a charge when the battery falls to 70 percent state-of-charge, which reflects 2.07V/cell open circuit or 12.42V for a 12V pack. (The specific gravity at 70 percent charge is roughly 1.218.) Lead acid batteries may have different readings, and it is best to check the manufacturer’s instruction manual. Some battery manufacturer may further let a lead acid to drop to 60 percent before recharge."

In terms of the car, you may lose your radio/seat and other such memory settings, but no damage should occur to any electrical components by not having power. Usually disconnecting power extends the life of electronics.

If you have power in storage area, you might want to consider a battery tender.

New owner of an 04 LS430. Is there anything to watch out for when disconnecting the battery on an 04 LS430?

Will it ask for any radio activation code or something that will put me in trouble or reset something that is hard to setup again? Aside presets...

👍 I hook 3 tenders on 4 vehicles. Used to lose a battery every 4 years now the batteries last more than 5 years. Might have saved an alternator or two.

Yesterday I had a Zero Point Calibration done as I had a VSC Light after an alignment. The tech asked me if the battery had been disconnected, which it had not. As I'm storing my LS away for the winter (DEC-APR) in a heated garage with electricity. I was contemplating just disconnecting the battery but now I'm rethinking that and using a smart charger for the storage duration. I guess the sensors get out of whack when you disconnect the battery.

Never had that problem with battery disconnect. This car is very peculiar to what is hooked to OBDII port and causes the VSC problem and is well documented. I also disconnect battery every few months to reset transmission memory to get rid of lazy effect.
