Losing my mind trying to get Techstream and the cable to cooperate.
I'm going to try and type up a through background as I blew a good 5 hours with this tonight.
I purchased a cable through OBDII365 for a Mini-VCI J2534 cable. The cable came with a cd with 3 different generations of software ranging from (15 to 12). I initially loaded up 12 as it was the oldest and loaded the MVCI driver onto my ancient windows 7 laptop operating in32 bit mode.
In this configuration i was able to access the car, connect, and utilize techstream, but i was not able to access the "customize" function. Some research pointed me towards needing an older version of the Techstream software. I followed a link from here in the 3rd gen LS subforum and proceeded to install and backdated the techstream software to a generation 10 solution. I then Uninstaller mvci and reinstalled and suddenly I am getting the MVCI terminated prematurely error.
I've even gone so far as to try and install the generation 12 software on a windows 10 machine and utilized the walk through guide provided around the internet to try and manually install the drivers and it continues to fail.
As you can imagine this is beyond frustrating as I had it partially working for a moment and now its not working at all. Open to any and all suggestions but trying to resist the urge to huc both laptops and the associated cable off of a cliff.

Desperately looking for what generation of techstream gives access to the "Customize" tab to set customer preferences.
Most importantly though is there any solution to getting my cable driver to isntall on a 32bit version of windows 7? All the trouble shooting out there seems to be for 64 bit versions of windows 10.

First and foremost I want to have a diagnostic scan tool functional in case an issue arises sown the road.
The impetus for this all beginning is a peculiar issue im sewing with my 2004 UL LS430 in which the doors auto lock when I put the vehicle in drive but the rear doors will not auto-unlock when I go back to park. I can unlock them from the drivers door switch, they can be manually unlocked by the rear seat passengers, but every time I drive my car I have to manually (or the rrar passenger has to manually) unlock the door to let themselves out. I was told this was likely the result of a personal customization the previous owner had done at Lexus and I am looking to undo this customization. This should be handled under the customize tab that i do not have access under either 14.20.204 or 12.20.024 of the techstream software.
Furthermore this is the thread that mentioned I need an older version of techstream installed to accomplish the job, but the installation of this older version is where my issues really started with the cable communication.

I dont think its operating system or the cable as i was able to fully install both techstream and the cable driver and utilize version 12 of the software. I was able to connect to the vehicle cleanly. My only issue at that point was not having access to the customize screen that the other thread said is only available in version 10 of the software.
I agree with you that the installation of 10 may have messed things up though as thats when I began having issues. Is there a specific cleaner software you would recommend?

For the record I was able to setup a virtual machine running windows XP on my old laptop and that allowed me to install version 12 of techstream and the MVIC driver. It claims its good to go, but i wont be able to test it until later. Still probably not going to have the "Customize" tab with Version 12 as I didn't before. Hopeful that I may be able to downgrade the software to version 10 to gain access to that. Will report back with findings.
The reason why you are having all these disconnects and interruptions is poor cable which lacks necessary quality and chips integrated in the interface, and also the software not matching operating system setup.
The best walk around is to purchase Mongoose cable. It will work with any Techstream version.

Be careful. It might still be the cable.
I had bought a cable in the past that appeared to mostly work, but not completely. I sent it back for an identical cable and the second cable worked perfectly. I tried to look up my review on the cable to remind myself exactly what worked and didn't, but the product in question is no longer available on Amazon.
