Default Backup Camera Details and some pics

Headunit - Pioneer AVIC W8400NEX
Camera - BOYO VTL17IRTJ - Concealed License Plate Backup Camera with Night Vision and Active Parking Lines (Black)
  • Run Cable from Trunk to Passenger side and around to stereo
  • Tap Backup light power from trunk driver side fuse-Top forward most plug. Bottom row of pins/ second pin from closest to bumper-end is a brown w blue wire. Tap for Reverse CAMERA ON power.

  • Add Backup camera ground just above (on wheel well) fuse box on a ground mount-use shrink tube or electrical tape since this connection hangs- dont need it wiggling loose!

  • Remove the rear license bezel trim(u need long needlenose pliers for the pinch clips. Notch for camera cable - drilled a small hole and file smooth with a jewelers file.
  • I remove one of the white plastic trim plugs off the plastic trim and ran the camera wire in the unused hole. No need to drill painted steel! And snip the plastic from the clip your not reusing so theres room for the cable.

  • Attach the red wire at the end of the camera cable run at the head unit to the violet/wht wire for Reverse power on- signal (check manual to be sure on color) on head unit harness
  • Plug Camera into Brown camera port
  • Be sure head unit dosent get the camera settings flipped to Ground from battery setting in the menus- it will make the unit not boot up- theres a pinhole on the face if you need a settings 'reset'. Kids can poke all sorts of buttons :-)
