Default Bumper replacement cost

Some idiot hit me in a parking lot, and drove off. Still working with the store to figure out who it was but I would like to get an idea for how much it would cost for a new OE cover, paint, blend job, and labor. I'm quite livid over this and had to wait before asking here or my post would have been overly colorful.

Call me petty but I'm strongly considering selling the car. I can't stand looking at this

I don't think a replacement cover is needed. They can fill the hole and repaint the bumper.

I wonder if new bumper covers are even available as an OEM part? I mean, the LS is 14 years out of production at this point...

They are, just kinda pricy. I'm worried about the labor costs since I don't know how much body work is supposed to cost. Never really had to deal with it before

I have two LS 430's and I can honestly say that the rear bumper particularly, is going to get damaged. It will always happen when we are not around and yes, usually in a parking lot. I always park at the rear of most parking lots, because walking doesn't bother me. Still happens.

Funny think is, once it's scratched, there is usually no more follow up damage. Lately, I've left it alone.

In other words, get used to it. By the way, your damage is easily repairable. Let the body shop figure out the least expensive way to make the repair. DO NOT make an insurance claim or you will pay for it twice.

You'll have to spray the new bumper anyway, this is an easy fix for them to take care of. Save the money on a new cover and put it towards a better body shop to do the fix

I just had the same scenario happen, but I got her license plate # and info and insurance took care of the rest. It was about $1600 all said and done for the new bumper cover, paint, electronics testing, etc.

I just looked at your pic. You probably don't need a new cover, it's very subtle. Mine was much worse. 2 different people actually hit mine about a year apart, but I caught the 2nd person so I got my deductible reimbursed. The cost of the cover is about $400, so painting only would be less but still over $1000 most likely at a best quality shop.

You know what I might do...bc yours is so minor. I would take the insurance payment and not do the repairs. My deductible was $250 so the check to me was like $850 and change, but then they added on the cost of the bumper cover upon further inspection which went directly to the shop. I got my deductible back in about 2 months after the repair was completed.

I had a similar repair done by a trusted body shop. It was around $900. It;s up to you. If you get it done, the only certainty is that with in a year or so someone else will hit you and ruin your beautiful new bumper.

Plus it adds character... lol

And my bumper has a lot of it too and it doesn't matter if I park at the end of the Walmart parking lot I still pick
up a ding or scratch or swirl on my bumpers or doors like magic.
When it gets bad enough I might try the 2k paint and clear in the rattle can and freshen bumpers up.

If I may interject I worked at a body shop so ima brake down the cost for you that is $80 an hour average at 3-5 hours so lets say $160-$300 for labor the supplies are gonna be $150-$200 so you should have it done for around $450-$600 prolly cheaper I live in NY were prices are higher because its NY.

Also you have the same silver I have the paint might not match perfect they might have to blend the bumper with the rear fenders and doors I doubt it but the silver paint changes color depending on light, temp, heat, etc when it is sprayed on and "cures".

That damage is easy to fix sand, glazing putty, sand, spray primer, sand, base coat, clear coat, possibly buff done deal.

You definitely do not need a new cover. Any good body shop can repair and repaint. I had both bumpers removed, refinished (do to old imperfections) and repainted by a reputable body shop for $750. Other than a slight difference in shade on one side of the rear, it looks like new. My car is silver which is fairly difficult to match. Is yours gold?

Mines crystal white, I wanted a silver one but Lexus white is close enough lol

I don't know too much about covers since my other vehicle has just plain plastic ones and the other is painted steel. Good to know I won't need a full on new bumper cover

I just got a quote of $1100 for a new OEM front bumper from Lexus for my UL. That's painted and installed. Not bad in my opinion.

Got my quotes together, rear bumper repair is $730 or $1350 if I decide to repaint and blend into the deck lid and rear quarters like I would like to. Front of I wanted to add it is $870

Not too bad but still annoying to a high degree since I'm sure whoever tapped me had a car not worth that much as a whole.

I would just get the bumper repainted. If you blend onto the quarters you will notice where the old and new basecoat meet.
