So I just got the compustar one way remote start installed at Bestbuy. It was a killer deal $270 out the door.

I have a 2005 ML with smart key and nav. Everything works and starts up great from upto 1000 feet except....

When I start the car with remote start and decide to shut it off again using the remote start remote, the headlights and parking brakes stay on. I tried locking the car again using both oem and remote start remotes but it wont turn off the headlights.

Only if I open the door will the headlights shut off. I can see this being a major problem if I accidentally hit remote start and forget about it....I Will be needing a jumpstart each time.

I did a quick search on Google and it seems this is a problem with Toyota’s. people have had issues with Tacoma’s tundras and RAV4’s with the same CompuStar system not shutting off the headlights on shutdown.

I intend to take it back to the installer but wanted to ask if anyone knows what the fix could be in case the installer tells me he does not have a solution?
