I've never heard of one failing on an LS.

I dont have any CEL lights
i cleaned vsv, maf , throttle body ,changed hose on the crank case to air box after that my car was idling normally

I think I should get new maf than new sensors and if the random rough start ups are still present maybe change fuel pump ? I’m losing my mind over tiny things love my Ls tho

I'd start with new plugs if you haven't already.

I honestly put that job way to the side because of the things I read, stripped threads, broken plugs
I should do the valve cover seals and spark plug seals while I’m in there

Do the easy items first:

* Check your fuel trims in Techstream. You will not get an MIL unless the trims are severely bad in either direction, so moderately bad trims won't throw a light but still indicates there is a real problem.

* New MAF sensor, sometimes the dirt buildup is uncleanable. If you get one on eBay, make sure it looks identical to your factory-install MAF, in terms of markings on the top. Return to seller as a fake if it lacks the correct markings. Closely inspect it for previous use, such as screw imprints on the top and most importantly, look at the 2 wires inside - use a magnifying glass and bright light. If the MAF has ever been used, the hot wires will look used, or worse, will have buildup on them.

* New Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and PCV valve - both very quick and easy to change

* Fuel pulsation damper - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...mper.htmlseems these start leaking/failing after 15 years.

* VSV cleaning/replacement - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...procedure.html

* Engine air filter - use OEM part 17801-50030

* Throttle body gasket is a non-reusable part - if you removed it during cleaning, consider getting a new one. Check all hoses for air leaks.

* Check low-side fuel rail pressure, ensure it falls within the spec. 2002 spec is 304-343kPa (44-50psi).

* New iridium plugs (SK20R11)

* Check all fuel system specs per below chart

Bsavage, I have all the toyota service information on crankshaft sensor, what exact information are you looking for? Let me know, I post for you.

For the DIY job, to replace the sensor, you need to purchase Denso item, take off the engine shield, and you ll see the position of it right from the bottom. Complexity is 1 of 10. Good luck. Please don’t forget to share your feedback on before and after effect from installation.
