Default Serpentine Belt Replacement

The serpentine belt on my 2001 LS430 with 130k looks cracked and worn. I wanted to replace this before moving on to my weeping radiator. Does anyone have threads or instructions or suggestions or the Lexus manual instructions on how to replace the serpentine belt? Thanks.

Hello,

Quick google search and you can find anything!

The video states what belt to get and how to replace it! its a super easy job and takes less than 10 minutes.

Best of luck

Make sure you check the tensioner pulley and 2 idler pulleys for play or any bearing noise.
***Tensioner pulley bolt it has a reverse thread .

I would check belt tensioner and the bearing for the belt tensioner i never knew my bearing was shot till the belt flew off on the freeway thank god auto zone was at the next exit better safe than sorry if you do change the whole Assembly you will need to drop the alternator and take off the left cam gear cap then you can take it off with a few bolts. Also disconnect the battery if you do change the tensioner assembly

I have never replaced a serpentine belt before and am somewhat cautious to start. The video makes it look simple. Are there written instructions available and any potential problems that I should anticipate or be careful to avoid? I am planning to use an oem belt and appreciate the recent discussion on which belt to use. Thanks.

I am doing the serpentine belt replacement. According to the torque specifications, the drive belt torsion should be 11 ft. lb. After loosening belt and replacing it with a new one, should I then retighten the bolt to 11 ft. lb. The video instructions and the instructions referred to from the manual, do not say anything about retightening the bolt. Should I retighten that bolt to 11 ft. lb.? Thanks for your help.

I have a 2004 LS430 with 57,000 miles on it. After all these years my serpentine belt went while I was driving on I 95. Incredible experience. All these years in NY with no problem with the belt, 2 years in the burning Florida heat destroyed my belt. I looked into trying to replace the belt myself as I was told to by many on this Forum but I am so hopeless with that sort of thing that I had to pay someone to replace the belt with a 1 year warranty. I was assured they used a quality belt and I paid $120.00 cash in total. The car is running smooth and fine so far.
