ECT Power Mode
I was wondering if anyone else drives with the ECT in power mode while driving in city traffic. I usually switch to the normal mode during highway driving. It's more responsive and feels more suited to city and urban driving.
I always drove with it OFF (normal). I turned it ON (power) about 2 months ago.
Yes, it is a nice change!
Probably gets a little worse gas mileage now though.
But for most people who own a V8, gas mileage isn't high on the list of priorities I think.

I only ever took it off of ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) mode once when the dash light warning sign lit up and that gut wrenching warning beep alerted me to the digital display saying 'Low Fuel'... I hadn't been paying attention to my petrol and I was in heavy afternoon peak hour traffic... so even though it was hot I turned off the AC and kept the windows down cause I read somewhere having the windows down messes with your drag coefficient so much that you end up using the same amount of petrol because of the extra drag pushing the car through the air as would be used to power the AC system.
Even that didn't save me in the end... I ran out of gas about 100 metres from a petrol station... which was up an incline so I couldn't ask people to help me push, 1.8 tonne car ain't going up no incline, so I had to reverse park to get out of the traffic lane I was in... using gravity... and there's no power steering when the engine cuts out... it was like having to arm wrestle a bear... and THEN I found out that for whatever reason here in Sydney Australia the vast majority (if not all) city Petrol Stations don't sell or carry Jerry (Gerry?) Cans... So I had to get the Road Side Assistance guys to come and bring me petrol... Again it was peak hour which meant it took them an hour and a half... So I just sat there in the car, looking at the petrol station... for an hour and a half... The Roadside Guy pissed himself laughing when I told him the story... I uh, I hadn't yet had the time and space to see the funny side at that point.
I didn't tip him.
So I vowed to myself. Never. Again. Now I'm extra vigilant about petrol, if I reach half a tank empty I stop and fill up. Plus I went and bought a small plastic Gerry Can from an Auto Parts dealer which I now keep in the boot, it's overkill but still, not taking any chances. Never. Again.
