I recently purchased a 2006 LS430. The center console lid does not latch securely. There is about 1/8" of play - enough that it bounces around when I drive over bumps. I followed the instructions on this forum to tighten down the hinge screws, but that didn't help. I wonder if I'm missing some material where the latch connects to the center console box? I've attached a few images that show this area, the gap, and the latch itself.
Is this much play normal? If not, any advice? Maybe someone could show me a picture of what that latch area is supposed to look like? I'm thinking I could thicken the latch lip with a few layers of JB weld plastic bonder to make a snug fit.
