Is it possible to easily remove the lid and put it back on when needed? The console is huge and deep it can fit an ultra book! The main problem is the lid is does not open wide enough as it at an angle. Can the lid just be removed and placed on when needed?

The 2013+ console box is awesome.

 

satnav, MEP7557 modified his console to open wider. Pictures are in this thread. I don't think he posted instructions on how to do it. Maybe you can ask him.

 

Thanks very much exactly what I was looking for, but the part about the "pain" in doing it makes me now think twice. Live almost 2 years as it is factory maybe I can longer...

 

I know what you mean. MEP is mechanically inclined so for him to say that means it'll be challenging. Once he tells you what he did, you can decide if it's worth pursuing.

 

On my 2010 the console lid only opened part way however, on my 2013 it opens to a 90 degree angle and does not overlap the opening in any way. Maybe some of the parts are interchangeable to give you what you want..
