Has anyone else experienced leaking power steering fluid from their rack and pinion? I have a squeaky noise coming from the rack when I turn the wheels.

 

Time for a rack sir! Maval makes good aftermarket parts. Stay away from A1 Cardone. They are about 90% of the market.

 

Damn, good thing you told me that. I was planning on buying cardone. Do you know if the maval rack includes the seals and Bellow?

 

 

It's funny you mention that, I just bought some and can't wait to test it out. I've heard good things. I was also looking at the BBB one and am wondering what the differences are.

My mechanic also said I need to replace my resovoir because its black and dirty and you can't see the liquid

 

As long as the reservoir isn't leaking there's no need to replace it. It's about $200 from Lexus. They all darken with age, some here have had luck removing it to clean inside, but the cap still has a dipstick. Personally I would replace the reservoir mount before even considering the reservoir. The rubber bushings on the mount harden with age thus no longer absorbing slight movements (motor mounts) from the engine. This creates stress on the hose (it becomes hard and brittle as well) from the reservoir to the pump. You will probably notice the hose ends attached to the reservoir are a little wet as all the parts mentioned are no longer flexing as they once were...

 

Makes sense. The hoses as far as I know have never been replaced. Should I have that done?

 

If they show any signs of leaking then yes now is a good time if you are having other PS components serviced.
If they are still clean and dry, but brittle I'm sure, it really depends on your level of OCD...
