I will be replacing my pass. side steering rack boot and I was wondering if I will need to use any type of packing grease in the inside steering rack area where the boot goes? The old boot is torn and it looks like power steering fluid has leaked out? Is this normal? Or maybe its grease that has leaked out? Anybody out there done this before?
the inside of the steering rack boots should be clean and dry, no grease required. fluid inside is a sign of a leaking rack end seal, this is not normal.
