Thanks, got it working last night. Spent a couple of hours trying to find the correct settings to no avail and then the battery died. Is the car supposed to be on/running?

It should connect even with the key off, however in order for it be fully functional the car ignition is either on (not just accessory on, the second click right before you spin the starter) or the car can be running.

Ok, I had it on but not running, hence the battery dying. Will try turning the car on. Do you know where the settings are supposed to be for the security and programming the buttons on the fob?
Thank you!

I'd have to pull it up and look at it to give you specifics, but if memory serves, you have to select the ECU you need and then get a sub menu with options to test the things on that ECU, as well as a utility function for that ECU. For the keys it's either the immobilizer ECU or the security ECU. I had to click around for a few minutes before I found what i needed. Again, it's in there. Just do some exploring and you figure it out. Once you get in there it's pretty self explanatory. I used mine to do both key fobs and I also used it to program the transponder on a key that was cut but not tied to the car. If yiou can't figure it out, I can load mine up later and see if I can find the exact location.
That said, it should be working with the key to the "on" position (not the accessory position). The car be running, but doesn't have to be...let me know

I found where you can add keys but not program the buttons. Also since this is my only key at the moment I don't want to do something to it that will cause it to not start the car.
Also I could not find any reference to:
1. On page 36 of the owners manual it says the 'Wireless Remote Control" can be deactivated as a vehicle theft deterrent. It seems if this happened my fobs would work as they are now. How do I tell if this is the case and how do I reverse this?
Can this be done in techstream?
I checked all the options there were. On the menu there is something called Vehicle Configuration. Might it be in there? It is asking me for a Vehicle Configuration Code, which I do not have.

Thank you. I tried this but I have a smart key. In this video it does not appear you have to program the buttons separately, just register the key. I saw some other videos for other 2005 models where you have to first register the key and then program the buttons. I think I might try it tonight and say I do not have a smart key. At this point I am just trying to get the buttons to work. Do you know if it is possible to buy a universal key fob that will just lock and unlock the doors?

Used LS430 Key Fob Won't Program

Did you ever get the buttons (lock, unlock or trunk) to work?
I have TS v12 and can't get the buttons to program. I purchased another smart key online (same model/buttons) and I couldn't program the buttons. However, I chose w/o smart key and was able to get the key to start the car but still didn't get the buttons to work. I had vendor send me another key thinking the key was bad and same thing.
Any ideas anyone?
