Center console lights sometimes go out
Two weeks ago I changed the day/night sensor for the nav screen. It worked until today. The screen stays in day mode. Since the problem started suddenly I suspect a fuse. Does anyone know which fuse controls the day/night function and illuminates the green bulbs behind the buttons like the hazzard, map, VSC, radio, etc?
I basically broke off the sensor by pulling on it. I found the wire behind the NAV. Since I could not reach the hole, i had to put through a snake from the top of the dash. Once I got the wire up through the hole, I attached the new sensor. Even with the new sensor, the day/night changeover is unreliable. There must still be a problem. Maybe there is a bad relay somewhere.
not trying to be an ***, but remember, the dash lights up during the day but at night the car senses the drop in luminocity and will dim the lights. If you have the dimmer switch set to a low setting it will light during the day and shut off at night. Had this happen on my current 430 and my 400, thought my dash was screwed up...so before someone tears into it, turn the **** clockwise a bit just to make sure that's not it

I still have not figured out why my center console lights go out sometimes. I thought replacing the dash day/night sensor would have fixed the issue. It didn’t. Maybe there is an unreliable relay somewhere. Any ideas?
Thank you.
Thank you.
edit: actually, next time when you're driving at night and screen is bright, kick the fuse box.
Wow! I am almost positive you are correct. When I bang my foot against the fuse box, the display changes from day to night. The relays are hidden out of site. Is there a trick to remove the carpet around the fuse box to expose the relays?
even if you purchase another JB from junk yard, you wont' know if that one have issue or not.
