Ok, I'll close this one out. Sorry it took so long to post the fix. So, from the beginning all stereo functions worked, including CD, but there was no sound. I tried another head unit, and another amp and checked all fuses and speakers. In the end, it was the... (drum roll please...) The tuner.
Since the CD would not play I figured the problem could not be the tuner. But, a technician at the dealership used a jumper wire to bypass the tuner and got the CD player to play. For whatever reason, the bad
tuner was also muting the CD player. So, a tuner from fleabay for $95 and problem fixed. I also had to pay the dealership $160 for the diagnosis.
One thing that I discovered quickly was that when removing the first bottom dash panel, where the heated seat controls are, I used a very small, L-shaped Allen wrench with a pair of pliers. Slide it through the crack on either end, turn 1/4 turn, and pull out. Easy.
Also, on the second panel, remember, there are 3 screws on the bottom.
Pics are of the Allen wrench and tuner.
Thanks again to everyone for all the help.
