3rd cat delete in California

So I went to 2 muffler shops out here in San jose CA to get my 3rd removed to install a x pipe and remove the resonators. They both said no.
I explained that it won' set off the check engine light because it' after the o2 sensors.
am I wrong or they just don't know because they probaby never done it on a ls430

Sorry they said no for the 3rd cat delete... but yes to the resonators. I'e done the resonators before on my last ls430.
anything eles I can do to let that v8 sound loose That I'm not thinking of?

They are being safe by applying that no part of the emission control system can be modified. They don't want to lose their operating license and incur fines.

Yes techically removing any oem emissions equipment pcv, evap, catlysts, and stock exhaust system is illegal, they are required by the US government to be on the vehicle in full operation in order to meet the emissions standered they set.

Definitely illegal, especially in California. It's a violation of what's called the Anti-tempering Laws. Take a look at the link below...

I removed my resonators and replaced them with glasspack on Sat...
Now I need to look into some mufflers. Debating on 5zigen fireball rep or some magnaflows with a rolled 6in tip

The rep actually sound pretty good, but if you are looking for that more american rowdy noise, go with the magnaflows.

I don't have it myself, but I've heard it on two other cars already. For my own, I have RS*R mufflers ready to go, just waiting to piece it all together, not jump to installing a part here or there. Such as, I need to install my rear lip before installing the mufflers to make sure it all seats correctly. Don't want to install rear lip until I'm ready to install full kit. Can't install kit until I'm ready for paint. Can't paint until my rims are ready from my wheels guy, then body work can start.

LOL I've got some plans, but it'll take some time.

BTW, the other two cars I've heard them on both had inline mufflers, not resonators. They both had used Vibrant mufflers inline with the Drift Dialect mufflers.

I run Magnaflow on my CRX for the clean sound. 2.5" piping with long resonator and long low profile muffler. I just love the way they sound and look, but people skimp out on building an exhaust correctly and blame that they sound like **** because they didn't think it through properly. Heck, even flowmasters sound good on anything, as long as you pick the correct series and size, along with the correct length of the resonator(s).
