Default Techstream tis mini works

Bought the 15.00 mini techstream as mentioned on toyota forum. downloaded software onto old win 7 laptop and my brother in law followed the steps to change registry to make the 32 bit software work on a 64 bit computer. I was able to get into my 2002 ls430 and turn the auto telescope and tilt off to preserve the motors. I also was able to change the door unlock to 1 press all doors. connected to my kids 98 es300 not much you can do with that one less cpus in it. Connected to my wifes 09 rx350 and can change settings. I told my neighbor who is lexus technician and he didn't believe me till he saw it.

Great news. Can you post a link to the specific product you're using - I want to buy one.

Thanks!

Yes! Please let us know which item you bought. I found the following on Amazon, but i'm not sure if it's the same one you are referring to.

That's the right one if you have a 32bit OS or don't care about having to convert it to 64bit. They do make the V12 version which is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit systems but costs $34.99 shipped on eBay.*Edit price

I was trying to search and figure that out. So there is a current version that will work with a newer laptop without any hacks or changing registries stuff and whatnot? 35 is super reasonable if its straightforward to install.

That's the claim. The newest version is V12.20.024

Agreed. Can you post info on what you bought and did. I would be willing to go the $35 if I can get it to install fairly easy. I'm not sure what I would do on my LS but my son's GS is not locking/unlocking the doors as I would expect and if I can fix that it would be worth the money alone.

I based my post on Google searches rather than personal experience. But upon further research the $35 is still 32 bit, so the one that the OP (V10) is a better choice since it's cheaper. There's one for $50 that is 32 and 64 bit compatible, however the cable must be upgraded on models older than 2005. So there is an easier option but it will cost more. http://www.ebay.com/itm/302421242109

Yes it can. I programmed a new key to my 06, it took me a little bit to figure out but got it done. I am running Techstream version 10.10.018 on Windows XP (32bit). It will even tell you how many current keys are programmed to the car and how many slots are available to be programmed.

Here is a thread I started when I was having an issue and did not realize the key has to be programmed in more than one way.

You don't have to run it on XP, but it requires some additional steps to get it to work with Windows 7 64bit. I did it at one point, however I run virtual machines on my Macbook, but just found it easier to just set it up on XP.
