Hey everyone.... I'm having problems with my install. I have a 10in. Kicker l7 2ohm dual voice coil with a Rockford fosgate t10001bd and a 4 gauge renegade amp kit. We used the rear sub to connect the hi low converter and 2 went out in 2 days. So now we tapped into the front doors and it's not hitting as hard.
I have a 2001 ls430 with mark levinston and navi.
It's a old school fosgate rated at 750watts at 2ohm. But it's really closer to 900 watts. I also do t have the gain and cross over on hi. Only at about 60%

Seems to be working great so far. The remote amp turn on is worthless, as it only sends amp on signal when getting output to the stock sub, and shuts off the second the bass drops out. So the amp was constantly going off and on. Now that I am using constant amp on power, it"s great.

You have to tap the sub speaker output for subs though. There is a crossover in the amp, and the door speakers are hi passed around 80hz I believe. Worthless for a sub.

My setup sounds absolutely fantastic, especially considering it is running mostly stock besides the subs and the Grom.

 

You need an audio control lc2i to handle the output voltage from the sub channel. I'm actually using the lc7i and summing the front woofer and subwoofer signals to go to my sub amp. The subwoofer channel only plays up to about 60hz. The front woofers handle the bass above 60. So summing them gives me output past 100hz (where I have my amp's LPF set).

 

Will I have the problem running a lower wattage amp?

 

The amp you are adding has nothing to do with it. You are battling the problem of too much output from the factory amp killing your basic line output converters.

 

I had my old ppi amo with my l7 in my is300 and gs350 never used anything but a hi low... my last ls430 was already wired up. Seems awkward that now I need a audio control

 

I don't know if ML changed crossover points, but my sub channel runs to 100 hz pretty flat, then rolls off slowly above that. Don't see the point to adding in the front speakers. I use the line converter above, and it's works perfectly. Stereo sounds amazing, especially considering it is a 'stock' stereo.

So I bought the lc2i.... Any help on install would be nice. I've seen some run it from the oem amp. And some from the oem sub line

 

After much research trying to preserve and or replace my original sound system, I ended up biting the bullet many years ago and replacing my sub and front 2 speakers with OEM ML Lexus speakers. I've never had a problem since and this was close to 6 years ago.. I've owned my 2001 for close to 9 years (purchased used) and now has 130,000 miles with original amp. Too many horror stories with the sound system that was weak to begin with.

 

Well I installed the lc2i but when I start the car I have a loud vibration witch I'm sure is not normal

 

What did you connect it to?

 

Rear sub wire line.. It's sound coming from the sub when the car starts. I have a remote wire also

 

I think I may need to tinker with it a little

 

It looks like you have the factory sub wires connected to L+ and R-. Is that what the installation instructions suggested? For my LOC, I paralleled the sub to both channels. I assume the amp is combining the two Rca inputs? I have two subs and two mono amps, so my two outputs go to different amps. Also, what did you hook the remote on wire to in the vehicle? Maybe your amp is coming on before the stereo?

 

I used RTA software fed by the outputs of the LC2i to analyze the outputs of the sub and front channels. The image below is the 1st measurement of the sub channel output. Notice the rolloff around 60hz. This may just represent a big boost centered around 45hz but either way, this is not a flat response.


Then I RTA'd the front woofer channel outputs. Notice the High pass filter seems to start around 50-60hz.


At this point, I knew I would need to swap my lc2i for an lc7i. After alot of playing with the summing in the lc7i, I got this:


So maybe something did change but my 05 ML definitely did not have flat response to 100hz.
