I need to lift the engine in order to replace the engine mounts. The hood needs to be removed but there is a cable running from the hood on the driver side and into the firewall. Where does this cable get disconnected?

That is not a cable. It's a windshield washer fluid (water) line that feeds the two windshield fluid spray nozzles on the hood. You will have to remove the liner under the hood to expose/access the hose to disconnect it.
