Default Hood Removal Problems

I just pulled my motor over the weekend and out of all the things i had trouble with it was the hood. first one of the of my dead hood shocks stripped so i couldn't get it off from either end (the hood part and the part in the engine bay) so i got pissed and just sawed it off since the shock was dead anyways and just figure i'll figure out a way to get it off later. now that the shocks are disconnected i go to undo the hood from the latch and nothing is moving. i can't even remove one of bolts and i stopped beacuse i didn't want to strip the bolts. i tried wd40 and liquid wrench but still the same crap. has anyone had this problem? any help or advice would be greayly appreciated. i just ended up asking a friend to stand there and hold the hood up while i pulled the motor. i'd still like to get the hood off to make the install of my new motor a little easier. what i find funny is i pulled the motor out with out stripping one bolt or damaging anything but can't take off the damn hood . Thanks in advance guys.

Try breaking the bolts loose by making them tight...i know that sounds weird but its worked for me before. then once they moved in the tighter direction you'll be able to loosen them.

Or get a heat gun and heat the bolts up. just like running hot water over a jar lid that wont open.

Maybe even a breaker bar is needed, just pull/push slowly so you dont strip 'em.

^^ i've never had a problem taking hoods off any car but for some reason the hood on my sc is on there really really good.

I've tried with a breaker bar i can feel it starting to stripping. i know its partial to my crappy tools but its only hood bolts. i'll try to heat up the bolt and douse it with liquid wrench. i don't wanna drop my motor in with someone holding the hood but i will if i can't get this damn this off.

Default Hood latch bolt

To my understanding, the bolt -- when loosened -- just spins and doesn't come out? If the bolt's already misthreaded, you don't really have to worry about misthreading it when torquing it in as 2jz_SC300 suggested...=X If it's just crazily stripped, i've always had success with using a dremel and a cut off wheel and just making a slit in the middle of the bolt. Use a flat head screw driver to take it out. Other than that, good luck =(.
