Default Park Assist sensor

I noticed my front bumper park assist sensor has some paint flaked off. Weird that it only happened on the sensor.
Its producing a false positive reading on the park assist alert system.
Can this sensor be repaired by evening out the paint?
thanks

You can correct the "false positive" problem by removing any loose paint or dirt on the sensor surface. Any interference to the sonar signal emitting from the sensor will give you false reading.

I will give it a shot.
Looks like the paint has deep scrape on it.
I will try to sand it

Rock impacts can permanently damage the sonar sensor. One or 2 of my front sensors have all the paint flaked off, so it's even, but the system still says "Check condition of sensor".

Even though they are "ultrasonic" sensors, if you have good hearing you can put your ear to the sensor to hear if they are on. One of my front 5 is definitely dead from rock impacts, and my other failed sensor pulses unevenly probably due to a high speed rock hitting it.

OEM sensors are $365 each CAD at the dealer, or $150-220 USD each online. Can't find Chinese replacement sensors in color 8P8 so I turn the system off whenever I don't need it. Prior to the damage, I used to leave the park assist on all the time. Still works fine for reversing.

Part numbers 89341-50050 and 89341-50011, with an extra 2 digits at the end of each part number to specify color code (J0 is for paint code 8P8).

And again to my initial question: do i have to remove the front bumper to be able to replace or fix the sensor?
