Techstream is a fantastic utility. Don't worry about screwing things up. Really does not give you the options to do this. Only thing you cannot do is update firmware on the vehicle. Probably the hardest part will be getting the software working. Most versions out there need to be on a older 32 bit OS.

I have 2 Macbook Pro's and use VMWare Fusion to run virtual Windows XP and Windows 7 and have no problems. I actually just did smart key programming just over a week ago with Techstream on the Windows XP virtual maching. I programmed a new master smart key and everything works fine.

I never had the need for windows for macs.. so i never looked into running dual os...not familiar with vmware..but regardless i was able to get my hands on a windows xp laptop..so i might just go that route.

Did you get your techstream off ebay?
I ordered my cable from Amazon and it came with it's own version of Techstream and the drivers needed for the cable. I ordered it almost 3 years ago and have not had any problems with it.
I have since updated the version of Techstream a few times. If you search on Google you will find a lot of forums in regards to installing it and setting it up.
