Default smart access key problem

hey guys, i am having some problems with my smart access key on my 06 ls430 and was wondering if some of you guys could help me figure out whats wrong with it. i purchased the car used with a dead remote battery. i put a new battery in the remote, the red light lights up but it is unresponsive to the car. the smart access also does not work. i have to unlock and lock the car with the slide out key. also, i have to start the car with the key in the slot or it gives me a message saying key not detected.

i tried this remote keyless reset:

close all doors lock, manually unlock and open drivers door
insert/remove key twice
close/open drivers door twice
insert/remove key once
close/open drivers door twice
insert key in ignition
close drivers door
turn ignition on/off
remove key
press lock/unlock at same time on key (2 sec)
press lock on key (1 sec)

(during this process, if the locks cycle once that means it was successful, if the locks cycle twice the programming was a failure).

on my car, it cycles twice when i press the buttons on my key. i was wondering, is there a way to diagnose and find out why the key keeps failing to sync with the car? i tried at least 20 times always with the same results. This is my only key, but i just ordered a new one from the dealer and i should have it in a week. all my local dealers charge around 140-200$ just to look at the problem

Lost my key recently. It came with the key cut and shipped next day I think it was 140 bucks. Programming was 50 bucks and I was on my way. Got a es 350 for a loaner, glad to have my car back. CAll around I think even a Yoyta dealer can program em.

Is the smart access button under the dash (by your right knee) pushed in?

I think that the smart key system is DISabled if the button is pushed in!
You have to push it again, so that it comes out and ENables the system.
