Default 2004 LS430 Speedometer Screen Went Black

After years of no problems first my rubber fuel intake hose had to be replaced and then a few days later my speedometer went black. When the dial is turned all the way down where it allows lights to go on the screen stays black. When dial is all the way up the speedometer screen lights up but the headlights can't be put on. I short in order to drive with the lights on I have to drive with an all black screen. Now this feels like my car is starting to come apart with only 48,560 miles on it. 1. Does anyone know what the problem is. 2. Because the screen went out shortly after the service for the replacement of the fuel intake hose can this screen problem be related to that repair. It would be great if this were just a fuse but that's too good to be true.. Thanks for your help.

There are 2 ways to operate the headlights - "Auto" and "Manual". In "Auto" mode, the headlights are switched On/Off via a photocell on the dashboard; and in "Manual" mode, you switch the headlight On/Off directly.

I suspect the Display-vs-Headlight interaction only occurs with the "Auto" mode. Can you please confirm if you can dial up the display light and still operate the headlights with "Manual" modes?

Hey friend nice hearing from you again. Thanks for your help. I can't answer your question although I think Manual is the answer. All I know was what I put in the thread. However, I can tell you what happened since. When I got home last night driving with no lights but had a lit up screen I put the car on the black screen that allows the lights to go on and put the lights on. Then I restarted the car and the screen came on very light, flickered one or two times and the screen returned to black. I left it on this setting overnight. When I went down in the morning and started up the car the screen came on as Normal with the headlights on ?? Went to the Lexus dealer . He touched the screen *** under the screen . The *** was turned all the way to the right but was snapped in that a little more pressure to the right would do. He then said now all is well that was the entire problem and you won't have another problem with this . I asked him to put the setting on Auto the way I had it before I brought the car in for the fuel tank problem. He did and I will check tonight to see if this screen is still working and the auto function is now working. Thanks again. Tom
