Default Best options for duplicate smart key

Hi all,

My newly purchased 05 UL came with one smart key and one valet. I'd like to have a duplicate smart key; in searching, seems like Sewell was the best option, but they no longer have the website. What's the current consensus on where to replace the key? I'd like to avoid paying full price at the dealership. TIA.

Such a dumb move to take that site down.

I've had good luck with mylparts; which is a dealership in the northwest somewhere:

https://www.mylparts.com/

you can also try Park Place Lexus; but I think their site is down at the moment.

Also ebay; in theory you could just have the key reprogrammed to work with your car. You'd have to have someone cut the backup key but that's still cheaper than buying the thing new at retail.

i need to get another key as well. I looked on ebay and will just buy a duplicate smart key there, program it myself, and have the blank cut by a locksmith. Should be able to do all that for well under 100$.

Toddmorr, if I may ask, how would you go about reprogramming the ebay key?

'04 - '06 LS key fob must be programmed using Techstream or at dealer. '01 - '03 fob can be programmed by owner without any special software using only the Master key.

I used autotransponder.com to order a replacement key for a little over $200. It still isn't cheap but it was a perfect copy and cheaper than the dealer. They just need your VIN and keycode (on the key) and a picture of the actual metal key taken with your phone. It was easy.

I bought a smartkey from Bell Lexus via Amazon and had a local dealer cut and program the key. Total cost was under $150.

You and I are on the same page, Lac. I just ordered mine from Belle Lexus and have lined up a local locksmith to program it.
