I was eating dinner Thursday night at a restaurant and someone backed into my sister's 02 LS430 and ran away.
I was so mad because the guy ran off. There were a few witnesses but nobody saw the guy's license plate. On top of that it's actually my little sister's car, but I drive it since she doesn't have a license yet and I take care of maintenance for the car. I got a police report and the officer hasn't found the truck that hit me.
The damage isn't too bad. There is a huge dent in the corner of the rear bumper and my driver side outer taillight got shattered. The trunk and fender are all fine though. My mechanic mentioned he could fix the dent and I may be able to get rid of scratches. Finding a new taillight for a good price will be tough though.
I'll post some pics shortly so I can get some opinions on the damage. I really hope it doesn't cause my insurance to go up. It's high enough as it is.
That sucks Kira. I know the feeling. I had the pleasure of watching my brand new to me 430 get backed into with a burger in my mouth. At least the culprit did not run away. No video from the restaurant?

I just happened to be taking the first bite of my enchilladas as it happened.
No video as far as I know. One of the managers mentioned they didn't have a camera on that side of the building. The crazy thing is that I parked right in front of the front door of the restaurant.
The officer that came mentioned his car got hit at the same restaurant. Apparently it happens a lot from what I heard.
Sucks to experience thatside of irresponsible drivers out there. Fortunate that this isn't a difficult fix. Would be more irritating had this been a dented body panel.
Good thing it doesn't seem like such a bad accident. Should be an easy fix.
Yeah, it didn't seem too bad to be honest. The taillight is what bothers me the most.

Yeah, if it were a dented body panel I would have been really mad. Luckily it seems like an easy fix. I just need to find a cheap outter taillight.
As mentioned above, be thankful there is no metal damage. Your bumper should really be replaced, but be thankfull no rear quarter panels are affected and if your car has all original paint, it will still be considered an original car as bumper covers don't count as a repaint as all of them get scuffed and repainted over the years... Count yourself lucky and be assured that Karma will take care of the offender.

I'm definitely thankful about no metal damage. I was quite surprised too. Everything looks fine other than the dent and broken taillight.
It does have the the original paint. As far as I know there hasn't been any body work done.

That sure would be nice if parking spaces were that big. The restaurant actually had huge parking spaces too. It seems like cars just keep getting bigger and longer.
