Default Headers for LS430

Hello,

I see PPE has headers for the LS430 that claim 20hp and 20tq over stock. I have heard others claim that the stock exhaust manifolds are very restrictive. Unfortunately these headers are like 950 dollars and I'm wondering if there's a cheaper alternative. Anyone else found a good set from another manufacturer?

Unfortunately they are the only manufacturer I found when I was doing my research. They are some Chinese crappy ones on eBay for $350. But I don't think they'll last half as long and you'll start having manifold leaks etc.

If you are going for the performance, then don't expect much. Get yourself a supercharger and do it right.

I was about to order mine when I realized that my build will be more towards looks than performance.

Good luck on whichever route you decide to go with.

I saw the Chinese ones as well. Don't know the brand and they looked a little too cheap for my liking. I'm a bit suspicious.

For the supercharger I'd be interested but that's gonna be a really big ticket item. At least 3-5k probably more on this car. I was thinking 20hp and 20tq for 500-600 dollars would be okay but 950 is too much. In fact I saw old threads at this site where they were offering them for 620 but that was in 2010. Too bad they jacked the price...

They raised the price because back then it was a group buy. And it was the first design they had rolled out.

The one that costs $950 is a re-designed one that has perfect fitment, and no interference with the steering column.

Not only that, but keep in mind, at least $500 labor work to put it in.

What is your current exhaust setup?

Have these claims been substantiated? Would it make sense that Lexus didn't fully optimize the design of the exhaust headers?

This has been discussed before - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...for-ls430.html - and the extremely blurry and practically unreadable dyno chart that was attached as "proof" appears to show a gigantic decrease in hp and torque from 0-5000rpm, and slightly higher hp and torque from 5000 to the redline, which is slightly under 5800rpm according to that chart.

If someone could upload readable charts and a legend for the lines (as to eliminate uncertainty of which lines are before vs after), then that would be better proof.

Here is another thread.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...e-headers.html

Your reading the dyno wrong. There is a increase in torque and hp across the board. Lots of good reviews just rather expensive.

Default headers

I had Stahl headers from Korman on my bimmer
Of course I dont know if they make some for the LS. But they seemed to be in the custom manufacturing business.
Back "then" it was already expensive.
IMO not worth the cost. Unless you need to be THAT fraction of a second faster than the other guy on the stoplight.
Headers alone do not make much. If you are seriously modding you need deep pockets.
I read on previous posts here somebody wants to go supercharge
Haah, that takes a bundle. Better get THOROUGHLY informed before tackling that.
The turbo set up I was interested on the bimmer was in excess of 18000 done right
I passed

Bringing this thread back from the dead 😎......Any more feedback on the PPE headers for the LS430 from experience? I have PPE headers on my ISF and it made such a huge difference for the 2UR-GSE and am itching to let the 3UZ breathe a little bit better than the stock manifold design.

Thx

Nope, I still have a brand new set of PPE from my gs430 that I never installed. According to my mechanic is a huge job as there's no space, and it's a 10+ hour job.

😬.....damn sounds like it's a lot more work than putting headers on the 2UR-GSE🤔.......All we did was drop the subframe to get access to the manifolds on the ISF, 3-5 hour job after you've done 1 or 2 sets. 10+ hours in a **** ton of labor to put these headers on😑
