Default Help please....no info screen

03 ls 430 with mark levinson and Nav. Little info screen above. Nav screen flickers on and off constantly. The screen shows outside air temp , AC temp settings and clock. Can only use side buttons when screen flickers on. When it does come on it shows on the clock 1:00. Have banged on dash, replaced fuse etc and cannot get the screen to stay on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i am guessing that your nav unit is shot and you will have to get it rebuilt or buy a rebuilt one to replace it.

I would probably start looking for one from a salvage yard and swap it out. It's just sort of a reality that something electronic like this this will eventually go out.

Once in a blue moon my screen will go blank but it always comes back on when I restart the car.

I would imagine something like this would be big bucks from a dealership brand new, so I would try my luck with a used one.

2004 with the Mark Levinson/Navigation.

The screen going dark has only happened like 3 times since owning the car, but it's still concerning.

I had very similar problems with the screen on my 04. Connected with a guy on EBay that repairs navigation screens. Search for LS430 nav screen repair. He did a great job for me and very inexpensive, around $200 if I remember correctly. He was local to me so he even removed and reinstalled mine for me. It has worked perfectly since. Contact him through his listing and see if he can help.

I have no relationship with him other than he repaired my screen and I am not compensated in any way.

Hope this helps.

If it's the screen that is defected. A new screen is for about 150 $ or so. You can find it on eBay or the other China web site.

Do you know what the problem ended up being? Was it something like the power supply?

Good to know there is an affordable alternative, I would rather pay $200 to have it repaired by someone reputable than taking a crap shoot with a salvage yard unit.

I believe that there is a common problem with solder joints at the main bus at one of the circuit boards deteriorating. That is what I have deduced from much research prior to having mine repaired but I am no electronics wiz. That is why I wouldn't try to repair mine myself. I wouldn't even attempt to remove my unit myself though after watching the guy remove mine it is actually simple (if you know what you are doing). In any case, he tested the unit and repaired whatever was wrong with it. He told me that all of the local Lexus and Toyota dealers have him do their repairs then they charge huge markups. He had mine done in two days if I remember correctly. Your experience may be different than mine but I was very happy with the repair. I believe he would help you troubleshoot and tell you how to remove the unit if necessary to ship to him or if you are lucky and are local to him you can take your car to him. He was very busy and took a day or two to connect with but in my case was worth the delay. I made initial contact through his eBay listing and he sent me contact info. I may have even paid him through eBay but don't really remember. Good luck with any route you take to repair or replace your unit.

Have the NAV unit in my 2004. One of the few things I don't like. Sounds like possible problems include 1) defective screen 2) soldered connections failing and 3) power supply. Hopefully the worst case is less than $500. Planning forward for when it fails (which is inevitable w/ a 12 yr old electronic device w/ screen display). Thanks for the info.

Play with the home and menu button and you will get the screen you like. I usually do the 4 way split or just navigation.
