My center console is very hard to open. My wife CANT open it. The latch seems to not come free enough or far enough out when opening lever is pressed. I have to pull up really hard to get it to open as well it snaps very hard when closing.

Any ideas of the cause and solution?

I'd look at the base, which is above the rear AC vent. Check and see if the screws are tightened too much maybe?

Or maybe something is stuck in between, I have that happen if the drawer was filled with stuff.

 

If something spilled on the latch mechanism, it may not open far enough to clear the latch when pressed. There are two buttons to open the center console compartment. Does one work?
