Rattle on driver side front end
Hi Guys, I have a rattle(metalic sound) on driver side front end. I just replaced leaky air strut, but it still rattles when I go over bump or bumpy road. Several mechanics checed and cant pinpoint if ball joint, steering control arm, bushing ,etc. They say rattles are hard to find so any one who can shed any light on this would be greatly appreciated,Thank You
A common metallic rattle source is the brakes, believe it or not. With the windows rolled down you can hear it at slow speeds over lousy pavement. The shims/pads/hardware can start to rattle if they haven't been greased in a while. Take the pads out and apply brake grease to the shims and back sides of the pads, and also the pad retention pin.

On this video @ :30, the aluminum anti-rattle spring bracket was my problem. It needed a little bending to make it snug.
The part is broken down here.... http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.co...774850030.html
Don't forget to liberaly grease up all the metal/metal contact points!
Another common rattle is the heat shield clamps. Also, with the clamps rusted out and loose, the heat shields also rattle around, so 2 things rattle due to 1 component failure.
Side note: save yourself from future P0420 or P0430 exhaust leaks by removing those clamps AND removing the heat shields. Water accumulates between the heat shields and the exhaust pipe, and rusts out the exhaust pipe where you can't notice until it's too late. This is a $200-800 repair job that can easily be prevented.

I would not just throw parts at it. A good mechanic can check for play in the control arms and other suspension components. If were to guess I would say lower control arm bushings as this is a common failure but it would be best to have it diagnosed properly. Lower control arms of more of a thunk or pop sound vs metallic rattle.
