Default Illuminated Entry - Puddle/Step Lights

I have the smart key system, and it seems to be functioning properly except for one thing. When I approach the car the puddle lights (or step lights?) do not illuminate until I either press the unlock button on the fob or touch the handle. I've heard that they should come on when the fob is within a certain distance, and I couldn't find anything in the CBest settings that would indicate that this feature is able to be deactivated. Am I correct in my assumption about how it should or could work? Am I doing something wrong?

You are correct. Mine turn on when I am about 5 feet from the vehicle.

I will have to play around with it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I think, but not sure, that there was a Techstream option where you can play with the illumination of the puddles of the mirrors. You can mess around with time and distance, I don't have the Techstream so can't confirm.

My puddle lights turn on when a few feet away as well.

You may have a weak battery in your fob. Do your smart key features work otherwise?

Replace the battery is a good idea. Also, don't keep your phone and keys in the same pocket. The only option in Techstream is to extend or shorten the time the puddle lights stay on.

The fob has a new battery and all other smart key functions work. I haven't had a chance to check it out after dark, but I will take a look this evening. Good idea about keeping the key away from my phone. I will report back.

So I noticed last night that the lights do in fact come on, but I had to be right up on my car. Could this mean my fob battery really is low? Or is that how it normally functions. It really isn't that big of a deal to me.
