Default LS430 pricing advice

Hi all,

Any opinions on a fair price to pay for an excellent condition 05 LS with navi at 79k miles? I've already checked NADA and KBB and the 'what did you pay for your most recent LS purchase thread', but I just wanted to hear your guys' opinions. Thanks in advance.

i consider that low mileage on a 2005. i'd say dont go over $17,000. i paid $14,250 about 2 weeks ago on a 2005 with 124,000 miles w/ nav and in good condition.

I haven't driven any newer cars lately, have you driven other newer cars in the 15-17 range to compare it to for the real value?? Is this private owner with few defects?

You may also want to take into consideration the package/selection and other options on the car.
For example, some people want a UL, and others would not care to buy one.
Others may want chrome wheels, while you may be fine with alloy.
All are choices you get to make and the more you narrow it down, the better your search will be.

If you inspect the car and it looks good, then anywhere from $15K-$17K would be a fair price for you and the seller. $15K plus tax would be my target...

Picked up a 05 Custom Luxury couple months ago with 62k miles for $17k, $18,500 with tax. It was fully loaded with PCS and chrome 18s. For the car value it would really matter what package and options. I was specifically looking for a non UL as I didn't want to run into suspension issues and CL was my first choice that I was lucky to pick up. $14k most replies are referring to is probably for a ML version. CL $17k with 79k miles is still reasonable, I think.

That range seems to be the average price, but most I've seen tend to the higher end of the range, if not more. I guess it's because I am looking for a white low mileage, one owner vehicle.

13-14 seems a bit low. I checked Manheim and it's closer to 15-16 for a car in good condition and with decent miles.

The mileage isn't bad, though I wish it were a bit lower. I suppose I'll keep searching for the right car with a little less miles even though from what I've read the motor is virtually bulletproof. Congrats on your purchase, by the way.

That seems like a fair price given the relatively low miles.

I have not driven other vehicles and I do not intend on doing so; it is an 04-06 LS or nothing. And no, it is owned by a dealership. I haven't come across too many private owned LS430s unfortunately. I search mainly using Autotrader.

You are right about that. I forgot to specify the trim in my original post. This particular model I am looking at is equipped with the ML package. Could I ask for your opinion on the navigation? I've read that it is costly to repair, and that if it goes, so do all of the controls (a/c, radio, etc.) Is the navi. in this car prone to failure? And if so, how much does it cost to replace? I saw a figure of $6000 somewhere on the internet, but that seems absurdly high.

XJSFan, that's exactly the price I'm trying to get the car for. $15k seems like a fair price given the miles. It's not exactly what you'd consider low for 9 year old vehicle.

Nice pick-up; mileage and package are good. I too am looking to avoid UL for the same reason you mentioned. I think I'd be content with an LS430 equipped with the ML package, which is what the car in question has.

You are correct about the cost of repair for the nav, but it is no different from any other repair on the LS430.
It is a remarkably reliable car, but if something does go wrong, it is expensive unless you can DIY.
There are a few reports of the display failing on this forum, but I don't think that it is particularly common.
Also, if you are willing to be patient and search e-bay, junk yards (excuse me, auto recycling institutions), etc. you can generally find parts for a low price. Of course, they are not new, and their condition cannot usually be checked until you get them home.

Checking e bay I think you can get them for 4 hundred bucks. I know its used but look for a low mileage if they are real figures. Gene is right not common so hard pressed to think a second would go out. There are plenty on e bay making you think it is a low demand part.
