Power Steering Pump
i got another 04 LS last April and let my kid drive it around the block and came back to a blown sub and weak PS pump. I got a used one with 50 k on it from a wreck but my pump tightened up with Lucas PS additive and the winter it was fine. Now the summer it is a bit weak when at a stop. Do you reckon there will be any issues with the new pump working, pump ends plastic capped up for 6 months, assuming it worked from the bone yard?

There was only 63 rounds on the car. You gotta know my kid, he was prolly doing back and forth wheel lock skids as he blew the sub. He was gone like 15 minutes he breaks everythin he touches. I got a highlander and he piled it up first month I hadd it in a snowbank taking it ot the lot from the ski drop off. He drove my car again the right front speaker is crackling and i get in the base is all the way up. Not the pump its the driver, that son of a gun. This pump has like 52k on it from an 05 wreck. Pump was 50 bucks

Personally, I would lean towards having the system flushed and the screens cleaned over using any additive in general. Also, did you bleed the system for air bubbles? I am a fan of the Lucas fuel treatment but I don't use any other treatment products on my car. I use OEM fluids for PS, radiator, transmission, rear end, and brake. I do use Synthetic oil and an aftermarket oil filter.

Agreed. Power steering pump issues with the LS430 are few and far between. The LS400 did have some leakers. Mine makes some noise in the cold weather which goes away when warm. I was told I could go another 150,000 miles before it failed. A used one would most likely be fine, but personally I'd prefer to pay more and go with a rebuilt knowing if there were issues, the shop would stand by the repair.

if it was fine and my kid drove it and it was flawed in 15 minutes I am not sure what that tells me. The winter it ran perfect. The pump had 58k on it for 50 bucks and a new aftermarket is like 200 and I am just thinking a Lxus part is worth the risk from a totalled LS.
if it ran perfect then did not in 15 minutes would air bubbles be the culprit. Just asking I am in healthcare and went to private schools, no shop class just a bunch of nuns and priests I know nothing about fixing cars.

Your blown sub is easy to understand as they are fairly weak and excessive volume can certainly bring it to a swift demise. I would seriously try to find out what kind of driving occurred in those 15 minutes to get a better grasp on why it's failing.
