430 vs 460....what do you think?

430 vs 460....what do you think?
I'm thinking at looking at an LS 460. I am currently in a beautiful LS 430 UL in millinium silver. I have never driven a 460. I have finally come to like the way it looks, and I love the gray wood on the silver cars.
I wonder if it drives as well, is as reliable, and if there is a model change coming soon?

I'm one of those guys. Hated the 460.
My dealer told me the biggest complains come from people who went from the 430 to the 460. Most, including myself, expected it to do everything the 430 does, just better. That just isn't the case. It's just a different car.
That being said, most of the people who's first LS experience is with the 460 seem to like them.

Design Flaw
Going from a double pane glass quiet 430 to a wind noise 460....no. Most wind noise comes from the mirrors. Lexus design should have done a better job....design a quiet engine, and then let wind noise happen

I honestly have trouble telling the new LS460s from the new ES350s without looking at the rear badges. They just don't seem to be the giant step apart they used to be:

When I was at a Lexus dealership looking at them, even the interior dimensions and quality seem pretty close. There used to be quite a bit of difference between Lexus entry level and flagship.
If I got an itch where I really thought I needed a new car, I'd probably get a new ES and pocket the $40k savings. Or buy 2 ES's.

I cant imagine an uglier front grill.
With that said take a look at the thread in the 460 section where people modified the 460's,,,,with a set of wheels and a little modifying , they look amazing.

I was sorely tempted by a 2011 F Sport LS460 I test drove last year. It had 11k miles on it and was mint. It was $47k about 15 months ago... a really good deal, listed for 80k plus when new. It was way faster than my LS, giant Brembo brakes, beautiful wheels, two tone leather interior, matte wood, lots more options, less gas mileage, more expensive to insure, more depreciation, and a lot more complicated and expensive...but is was seriously cool. I needed to think hard on it, so after a day to sleep on it I passed. That LS460 was an amazing car, but today I am glad I stuck with my LS430 - way more money in the bank (I want to retire soon) and I honestly like my car more and more over time. Given what is happening with technology and gas prices over time, the next car I buy will likely be a hybrid - something to drive when gas gets to be 5-6+ bucks a gallon.
