Question Thinking about moving from a 430 to a 460

I have a beautiful 2002 LS 430 with 82,000 miles. It is Millinium silver, black leather, and cherry wood.
Great car, maintained by dealer, and meticulously cared for. I occasionally get the bug to look at something new. I looked at Audis (before all of the negative comments, my wife has an A8 that has been a great car). I always buy CPO cars.

Any LS 430 to LS 460 owners that can give me some insight.

Opinions appreciated

In the past, Audi has been much less reliable than Lexus. Not sure if that applies today. There appears to be more problems with the 460 than with the previous 430 cars. Also, the 430 seems to be quieter than the 460. Considering all the posts about problems on this forum from 430 to 460 owners, the 460 appears to be more trouble prone and maybe less well thought out than the 430.

Might want to stick with a winner and wait for the LS470 to come out!

I appreciate the information and candor. This is helpful.

Audi has moved up the chain of reliability in the last few years. Consumer Reports has recently listed it in their most reliable brands. I'm skeptical and would wait if it were me, as much as I love Audi vehicles.

As for the 460.....I would keep it all in perspective. Is the 460 as reliable as the 430? I dunno, but even if it isn't, it's still the most reliable vehicle in it's class by a mile. It's a beautiful car and still rock solid. There are few people that would say they regretted owning a 460, but the same cannot be said for just about any other vehicle out there right now. If you don't believe me, visit Bimmerfest (BMW), or any other of the top tier brand forums on the web.

I went from a 2005 LS 430 to a 20008 LS 460 and I'm happy I did. Although a great car, the 430 seemed stodgy and under powered for acceleration. My first drive in a 460 sold me.
Power, Styling, Sound System and NAV system are what have been upgraded from the 430 to 460. If these improvements are important to you an LS 460 is the way to go.
I had to get some warranty work done to fix some of the design flaws of the 460, but these would already be done on a CPO car. I've had no other problems for 68k miles and I bought my 2008 new.
Hope this helps.

I owned both, the 430 is solid/bullet proof but I prefer the 460. This topic has come up over the years with healthy debate about both gens. Here is the must recent thread for you to gain further insight.

i am in the same boat right now. I am about to list my 05 430 for sale and possibly upgrade to a 460. I test drove a 2010 460 and I don't know what people are talking about but it was more quiet with less road noise then my 430. It also drove like a dream.

All I can say is I went from a 2010 accord to an 08 LS and now my hearing is starting to improve. (was like being thrown in a huge coffee grinder with paper walls haha, but it was reliable).

So which car is louder...the LS or the Accord?

I went from an 06 LS430 ML to a 08 LS460, after my crash I seriously looked for another 430 just because the cars are tanks but the amenities of the 460 enticed me in, never looked back.
