Question Two Different Front Shock Part Numbers?

Both Sewell and Pembroke have two part numbers for the non air front struts:

48510-50200 or 48510-50140

And I can't find a description of the difference anywhere, apart from a $15/strut difference. Any ideas?

Edit: I've done quite a bit of searching, but in 2014, are stock strut replacements the most cost effective approach to replace blown shocks without sacrificing stock ride quality? Looking like about $560 for just the shocks.

I think one might be the "sport" option (stiffer) and the other being the "regular" version?

I've heard of "coil over" options, but don't know much about them and that will likely be more than just replacing the struts.

Personally if I were replacing the non-air shocks, I would do it with OEM because I would want to retain the smoothest ride possible and they usually last around 100k miles. I'm not even sure they make an aftermarket struts for these cars.

Call Sewell and ask them about the differences. Usually they want your VIN when ordering to make sure you are ordering the correct part for your car.

Go with KYB. They are OEM and some mechanics say they're better than OEM. The Springs usually come with the sport or normal variants.

I know this is an old thread..but same question. The two part numbers for the front and two for the rear, shown at LexusPartsNow, Atlanta South, and other places don't spell out the functional difference. It's not the sport shock. Apparently there is a number on the installed shock the parts guys want to match to, but still haven't figured out the difference in the shocks.

Any recent knowledge from those that replaced struts with OEM?

I replaced my rear struts 2 years ago. At the time MyLParts.com listed 48530-80141 as "Sport Susp" specific. They are no longer listed that way but the part number is consistent with my invoice.
Can't speak to the front...

Lexus changed suppliers somewhere in the middle of the ls430 production run, and when they did that they changed part numbers (I want to say they went from tokico to kyb but dont quote me on that). The price difference reflects differences in product cost I assume since the parts are interchangeable.
They are all built to the same specs, but lexus being lexus and ride quality being paramount, they recommend that if you are not replacing all 4 at once, you try to match with what's on the car already. If you're doing all 4 then it doesnt really matter since they're all getting changed.
