Hi, I just got this 2001 LS430. The moonroof keeps opening without me doing anything, and now I can not even close it anymore, it is totally not responding! Any ideas please??

 

I think someone came up with a good joke. You know how we have to carbon monoxide gas detector to automatically switch between recirculate and fresh air. Well, the methane detector will automatically open the sunroof when it detects large amounts of, well, you know...


Anyway, I would first pull out the switch and give it a good thorough cleaning with electronic cleaner. Check for corrosion and or anything that looks loose and improper.

So can you tell a bit in more detail as if you are explaining to a dummy ) What do you mean by pull out switch? What switch? Thanks a lot.

 

I think he is talking about the sunroof switch by the dome and map lights

 

My roof opens by itself, the windows go down on their own, the flashers start going on. Any one got any ideas where I should start looking. It could be my mom messin with me since I got her car after she passed.

Sounds like some strange electrical problems ls430 cool. I don't know exactly where to start on that one.

As far as the sunroof problems. I would look at the switch first. Often they can be cleaned. If not, I am sure they are not very expensive to replace.

I have heard that a bad or going bad battery will cause issues.
