Default 2003 Lexus LS430 - Moonroof opens by itself while driving

See above.

Just started doing this today while me and my family was driving on the highway. It opens and then the switch wont respond to closing. Then after a bit the switch responds and I can close it.

Did it twice today. Very annoying as it snowing here.

Any clues what this might be? Corroded switch? Can I spray contact cleaner through it without have to disassemble it?

Can I disable the moonroof by pulling a fuse?

Thanks.

Maybe the flatulence sensor detected high levels and automatically opened the sunroof. Hidden feature.

Well, I took apart the overhead console and removed the sunroof switch. Couldn't see anything obvious so I sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner and put it back together. For a time after, the sunroof still opened and closed in fits and then it finally stopped working for good, luckily in the closed position.

As I really don't want to take any more chances, I pulled the SUN/ROOF 25Amp fuse (#47) at the fusebox in the trunk. I'd like to see that sucker open now.

Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this when it's not 1:00am in the morning.

Just wondering, how did you end up fixing the sunroof issue. I have the same thing going on.

Pull the fuse for the sunroof until you solve it. (It may be due to moisture in the roof.)

It happened to me over the summer. First time was a really hot and humid day when suddenly the sunroof opened on it’s own. It closed immediately with the switch. The second time I was driving to the grocery store. A few tries pushing the button in the grocery store parking lot and it finally closed. The final straw was after a meeting it was about to absolutely pour rain. As I pulled out of my work’s parking lot it opened and would not close. Luckily I was on my way home. The rain came down as I pulled into my garage. I took the overhead console down and cleaned the contacts of the sunroof’s ribbon cable. That worked, it closed. It was raining nearly daily in my area I didn’t want to risk it so I unplugged the sunroof’s motor. Recently on eBay I won another overhead console with the switch. If it works great, if not not having a opening sunroof is not a big deal to me.
