Default LS430 P0430 Catalyst problems

Hi guys

Only had the car just over a week now and its developed this problem a P0430.

I have read into it and it said to be a Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2.
Now wishful thinking, could this just be a o2 sensor?
The car does have a slight judder on idle but drives fine other than that.
It is LPG converted and on LPG the judder is more noticeable

How much is a new cat and I am assuming it would have to be from dealers? is there anything I can do to repair this one?

The car only has 92k miles but is also LPG converted which I would have thought been better for the cat as it runs richer.

Thanks in advance.

Check for exhaust leak. The symptom is the same as catalytic converter issue.

Have a different cat problem w/ my 2001. I get the rotten eggs smell under hard acceleration. Otherwise no codes and no problems. Good smog. Anyone else have this problem?

It's a pretty common problem on these cars. Mine did it badly when I first got it. I just replaced my front O2 sensors and it seems to be better. I always thought it was weird the smell would permeate the interior even if the windows were all closed and the ac was on recirculation. That and it would be worse when getting on the freeway going 70 mph. I couldn't figure how the smell would make it back inside.

+1 on the exhaust leak. It's almost always a crack on the Y-pipe. You'll have to remove the heat shields to access it. A competent exhaust shop should be able to repair it or fab up a new pipe. If not there's a new unit available on Rock Auto for $250 from Davico. Dealer price is like $1200.

Thanks for the sensors suggest. Have the same problem w the smell getting back in even when everything is closed up. I always close the sunroof before getting on the freeway!

I've replaced the spark plugs and the O2 sensors, and it still has the smell from time to time.

I've just learned to live with it, seems to creep up if I've been doing spirited driving.

Do you have a link to the extenders you used? Doing a custom exhaust soon with headers and the extenders may come in handy.

I replaced all two converters on my previous 01 430; never purchase/replace at the dealer. Brought them online (Ebay.com) and had them put on at a local shop. Brought them online very inexpensive and then sold the old ones for scrap metal(received about $40 - $50).
