ls cowboy you seem like the real deal seems like you really know your stuff thats a nice change
i am a big fan of the mobil 1 extended performance for the $ amount in 5 qt jugs and availbitlyt at walmart
thanks for the info, guess the big question i got the info you provide on the better filters, but the oem toyota filters are pretty good, what are your thoughts on 8500 miles on oem filter and extended performance mobil 1, sometimes when you go to lexus dealer for service its bad enough i bring my own oil i really dont want to go in with the filter thats why i asked the above, safe driving to all

LsCowboy has been a great resource for these forums. Correct me of I am wrong, but I believe he a master mechanic for a Lexus dealer in Alabama.

I change my own oil to make sure it is the good stuff and done right, you know it is the flunky trainee who changes your oil, even at the Lexus dealership, and all dealerships use the mystery oil! - and the current Toyota filter has gotten small and cheap. Stick with the 90915-20004 model, if you can find them.

If you want to make it into an easier job, you can get a Fumoto valve - I like em!

Our oil analysis cannot find any real difference in Mobil 1 EP and regular Mobil 1, this appears to be a corporate trick!

the LS series has always been a well made car, and was always very reliable with incredible fit and finish - the LS430 is not really a better built car, but it is certainly an improved car, better handling, performance, safety, theft deterrence, refinement etc. as well as cool new features like that laser cruise control, etc.

the only knock on the LS430 is that with the new styling, you have to pick the right color so that it doesn't look too girlie! - I think the Briarwood that Lavrishevo bought is a good example of how to select the right color!

i posted some interesting thoughts on both, i had a 98 ls400 with 160,000 miles was using mobil 1 since 68000, when i would approach 3 to 4000 miles on the oil and pull in a drive thru i can hear the engine noise and valve noise.. not saying it was knocking but as a master mechanic you know when the oil is new withouth viscosity breakdown how it sounds, switched to mobil 1 extended performance and up to 6000 to7000 no degregation of the oil where the motor sounded better. i know this sounds crazy but i am extemely particular and notice everything. also there is 2x the amount of synflo the cleaning agents in ep vs regular mobil1.. also i have posted infor the las vegas field studay that mobil1 posts and markets with was used in cabs with ep not regualr mobil1 .. like i keep posting for 2 bucks more for 5 qt justs i feel more comfortable at walmart buying the ep than regual mobil1

it turns out that the very best oil of all, may well be the Toyota branded 0W-20 - it has numbers like we have never seen! - and it is made by Mobil, but to an even higher spec than Mobil 1 EP - we are awaiting Toyota Engineering to approve this grade on LS430

Can we run the 0-20 in the LS430? No right? Will they come up with a 0-30 that is high test in the future?

there are already some great 0W-30 oils, such as German Castrol and Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy

I change both every 5k km and use a Ryco Z418 and generally Penrite Synthetic 5W40.

Seeing as I sell Ryco filters in my business it'd be silly for me to pay three times as much for genuine Toyota ones and I change them often enough anyway...

Are you saying that Motorcraft --- FL-400S beats even NipponDenso --- 90915-20004?

I was just about to to buy Nippondenso, but if Motorcraft beats it, then maybe I should go for that one?
