InfamousLS....

On the 2004 and newer LS430s they have smart access so you can enter and start the car without using the key. Instead there is a black button on the door handle that you can push to lock. In addition, you can unlock the car simply by putting your hand on the handle as if to open it. If the fob is detected the door will unlock then you can simply pull the handle.
My 02 does not have this feature, but the 04 does....

That's if you have smartaccess. It was an option even for '04-06, not standard.

I have just noticed, when I use the outside door latch feature to UNLOCK the doors (by running my fingers over the sensor inside the latch), that the rear passenger door does not unlock.

The 3 other doors unlock fine. Of course, if I use the portable Smartkey unlock button all doors open, or if I use the key itself all is fine. But what would cause 1 door not to unlock using the touch feature?

I accidentally left my smartkey in a jacket pocket in the trunk, then I locked my car doors with the button on the door handle!
Then I realized my keys were "locked" inside the car... or not
Great that the trunk still opened with the button on the trunk because the key was in close proximity (inside the trunk). Phew!

05 with smartaccess:
Leave and lock:
inside locks 98%
fob 2%
handle never
Enter and unlock:
Touch the handle 100%

Thanks for clearing that up. I looked at my 03 and I though I was missing something.
