Default Megan or Tein

hi just picked up my 2005 ls430 last week and wanted to know if
the Megan LP is a good suspension
or if the Tein comfort street would be good.. ive ran tein super streets on my IS300 and never regretted it. but wanted to see everyone's opinion on both! thank you..

The Teins have a smoother ride but the Megans can go much lower and are cheaper.

I've got Tein CS's (with a Youzealand SS kit) in my '02 UL and love them. Super comfortable and definitely "wife approved". Depends on what your goals are with the car too. Like Kira said, the Teins don't go as low, and also because the ride is so comfortable (....super soft spring rates), they may not be your first choice if you're looking for low stance and gangsta wheel fitment.

Silver'04 touched on it, but I'd like to emphasize that everything will depend on your goals. I went the VIP route as far as wheel fitment and vehicle stance are concerned, and with that in mind there is no way I'd be able to run most off the shelf coilover systems. The spring rates are just too soft, and I would've absolutely destroyed my front fenders by now.

I went special order, with BC extreme drop(20mm shorter dampers than their normal line) coilovers, with custom 14k/12k spring rates.

I had Megans on my SC300 and the ride wasn't that great in my opinion. I only recommend the Megans since it's hard to get a good set of coilovers that can go as low under $1,500. Tanabe also makes a good set of coilovers that can go pretty low and ride smooth but they are around $1,300-$1,500.

Right now our vendor CircuitMS is having a group buy on Megan EZ coilovers. Their about the same as the Street LP's except they're 16 way adjustable instead of 32 if I'm not mistaken. They also go just as low as the LP's.

I worked with a vendor from another site(VIP forum), so I won't mention the shop, but BC's can be made damn near however you want. I.E. 20mm, 40mm, 60mm shorter bodies than normal, on top of choosing your spring rates. All at no extra cost over the $1000 they usually run.

And I will say that my 20mm shorter units will go low enough to make the car completely undriveable.

While I can't vouch for the ride on the BC Xtreme's, I did have the regular BC's (stock spring rates) on my 2gs and the ride was awesome. A little firmer than the Tein's, but never uncomfortable or harsh. They're only slightly more expensive than the Megan's, but with that kind of flexibility to get different rates and shock lengths, it seems like a no brainer

I agree with the BC choice. Offers alot of customizations all at the same fee of 1000, with the exception of the extra time to make your custom specs. Theres vendors on CL who can get you a setup. But if you want something a little more crazy like SQuester has said (shortened bodies, stiff spring rates), I would check out more VIP based vendors. Just because I talked to CL vendors about crazy setups and they give me a little question mark about 'are you sure thats what you want?', meanwhile some other guys are pretty used to ordering crazy setups that its pretty typical to ask them about it and what not
