Hi everyone!

I seem to be having some issues with the park assist on my 05 LS. I don't know if it is malfunctioning or I just don't know what I'm doing.

When it works Parking into my garage from the driveway
- I turn the engine off
- I turn the engine back on
- I press the "Park Assist" button
- I wait for it to initialize
- I drive into the garage slowly
- at this time, the Nav screen shows the park assist and it works flawlessly

When it does not work Parking into my garage from the driveway
- The engine has been on for a while (driving from work to home)
- I stopped on my driveway with the engine still on and open the garage door
- I push the "Park Assist" button to activate it
- Wait for it to initialize
- I drive into the garage slowly
- at this point, the Park assists works partially sometimes where the park assist shows on the Nav screen briefly and then disappears and never works again as my car drives slowly all the way into the garage.

Is my Park Assist feature malfunctioning or am I just using it wrong?

First... why are you turning your engine off and on to activate the parking? You can hit the button whenever you need it. Second, why are you turning it on and off?

I leave it on all the time and it beeps just as I'm entering my garage because it detects the door way edges as I'm.passing and beeps again once I get close to the rear wall
If in your parking, you don't come up on objects, the beep won't sound.

 

I turn the engine off and on because that is the only time it works it seems. When I have the park assist depressed (enabled) all the time, I do not hear any beeps when entering in my garage even when I am very close to the side and front walls.
